Truthfully, I thought I'd love this book more. After all, I'm a big fan of books for the younger readers, an acute example being the Benedict series, which are vastly different than this one but certainly carry a bit of a similar tone.
However, I find myself skipping a few pages because the narrative gets boring. The story is charming and often funny, but I do not find myself engrossed in it. It's unfortunate because I love the colorful cover and the illustrations as well.
I wish I could learn more about the children. I do realize the POV comes from Miss Lumley and it will be out of focus if we see through the eyes of the children. But boy won't it be so much more fun?
Not sure if I'm going to catch up on the second third and fourth book.
I hope the mystery gets solved soon, but from the reviews of the second book it does not seem very likely.
